Here at New Breweries Denver we have a number passions besides food and beer, namely cycling. We frequently ride out to Golden, which takes us through Sloan’s Lake and Edgewater. Throughout the summer we watched as Joyride Brewing Company came to fruition. Once we saw that it was open we knew we would be making the trip out to see what this new brewery had to offer. While we watched it’s progression we both were intrigued by the garage doors that open up to 26th Ave. So when we arrived we knew we would be sitting at one of the bays. It was a gorgeous day out and looking out at Sloan’s Lake and the passersby was what we needed (and of course beer) after a long week.
For a Friday evening the crowd was predictably busy with people as well as their dogs. This is definitely a dog-friendly establishment. The service was a little slow but that was to be expected. We made it in for happy hour which goes from 3pm-7pm. We both decided to try a couple of beers in order to get an idea of their tap selection. I opted for their Scarecrow Pumpkin ale and their Edgewater IPA, while Greg had their Edgewater IPA and their Double IPA. I am a pumpkin ale person, so I really enjoyed that selection. Greg, on the other hand is definitely an IPA guy. He loved the Double IPA, which I liked as well.
The scene is definitely a neighborhood spot, which was great to see in that area. Although they don’t serve food they have do have a food truck out front. Which, if you go to their website they have a listing of the food truck that will be outside on any given night. That was something I really appreciated. I love going to breweries but I am someone that needs to eat. I liked the fact that I was able to research beforehand and find out what food would be available.
Being a new brewery they do have a few things to work out as far as selection but overall this was definitely a great new spot in Edgewater. Parking was easy, either in the free lot across the street or on the street. This is definitely a place we will be back to visit and track their progress. How can you go wrong with a brewery across the street from Sloan’s Lake?
